If you are thinking about buying a bed-in-a-box, then you might be considering the Leesa mattress. Of course, you might also be weighing that against a lot of other options.
There are a lot of different options for mattresses these days. It’s almost impossible to know which one to choose. However, if you look at reviews, and you examine the differences, then choosing a new mattress becomes easier.

What is the Leesa Mattress?
The Leesa brand actually has two mattresses. The Sapira Hybrid Mattress is the more luxurious of the two. The Leesa mattress is more basic. It would be comparable to the original Purple mattress or the Essential Casper mattress. However, it is a foam mattress, which makes it more comparable to the Casper than the Purple bed.
In fact, Mattress Advisor rated it the best foam mattress in a comparison of fifty different foam mattresses. Similarly, Wirecutter compared 40 mattresses and ranked Leesa the best foam mattress.
The Leesa Mattress is actually made up of three layers of different types of foam. At the bottom is 6″ of dense core foam. In the middle is 2″ of memory foam. On top is another 2″ of LSA200™ Foam. According to Leesa, this foam improves pressure relief for side sleepers, offers better cooling, and is generally more comfortable than the other foam mattresses out there.
The Foundation for a Leesa Mattress
Your Leesa mattress will work on a slatted, platform, or traditional box spring base. However, if you don’t yet have a base, then you might want to purchase one directly from Leesa. They have what they call the Leesa Foundation, which is a very simple wood slat base covered in grey twill fabric. It’s an affordable add-on to any size Leesa Mattress.
How Much is a Leesa Mattress?
Speaking of affordability, the Leesa Mattress is affordable in comparison with other bed-in-a-box brands. The twin size is currently $505, while the Queen is $845, and the largest (California King) is $1015. All mattresses include free shipping. This price is slightly lower than the price for similar mattresses from Casper and Purple.
Leesa Mattress vs. Competitors
One of the most interesting things about the Leesa website is that they offer comparisons between their mattress and competitors. Of course, you have to take that with a grain of salt. More than anything else, it highlights what they think is best about their own mattress. Nevertheless, it’s a bold move that many other companies don’t take. In addition to comparisons with Casper and Purple, they share comparisons with Tuft & Needle and Tempur-Pedic. It’s a good starting point for comparing the mattresses, and then you can look at other reviews for additional information.
Sleepopolis did their own comparison of Leesa with Casper, Purple, and GhostBed mattresses. They found the four mattresses comparable in many ways. They’re all approximately the same height, are rated 6-7 in firmness, have good or very good support, and have minimal or very minimal motion transfer. They all offer 100-day trials and a 10-year warranty, except for GhostBed, which actually offers a 20-year warranty. Sleepopolis did note that when you move around, Leesa responds to you quickest, with the exception of Purple, which utilizes a different type of mattress technology from the others.

When trying to decide between mattresses that all seem fairly similar, one of the deciding factors might be the company itself. Does the company have values that align with yours?
