If there is one thing that is for sure about this year, people are going to be doing more socializing as soon as the opportunity arises. As everyone slowly finds their way back to normal, outdoor parties will likely become much more popular as a way to enjoy get-togethers with friends and family while still maintaining safe distances.
This is the first thing that has to go up for a true outdoor party to go off properly. Now, that doesn’t mean that you have to spend thousands of dollars on having your outdoor area renovated. Even a temporary bar setup like Rio offers that creates a comfortable place to sit and serve and enjoy drinks is good enough.
Decorative lighting also means adequate lighting. If your party is going to go into the after-dark hours (which most of these kinds of parties do), then it’s essential you have the proper lighting. So many outdoor areas don’t have enough wattage to offer the proper illumination to a gathering. This also gives you the opportunity to be creative and festive with your lights (think colored or neon lighting).
Beer Pong Table and Other Gaming Accessories
Come on, who doesn’t enjoy a good game of beer pong? Even if your college days are long behind you, nothing takes you back in time to those good old days like a game of pong. Outdoor parties are also a great place to break out other classic or folding table games that may not get much use otherwise. Still holding on to that old foosball table? Bring it on out! How about air hockey or table tennis? People will play with those too. Outdoor parties give people the opportunity to enjoy games that they otherwise would hardly play. Dartboards are a quick and easy gaming accessory to add to your outdoor gathering if you don’t have anything else.
Fire Pits for Fall/Winter
If you are hosting your party in cooler or even cold weather outdoors, heating options are not optional at all. You will need to provide areas where your guests can warm up. While we don’t suggest throwing a bash in sub-zero temperatures, between the warming beverages, fire pits, and layered clothing, there is nothing wrong with socializing outdoors with a nip in the air.
BBQ Pits for Spring/Summer
Just like you need fire for warming in the winter, you also need fire for cooking when the weather is warm. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and steak, and even tofu are on the menu at this party! Whether it is gas or charcoal, just make sure you always practice fire safety and that you have an extinguisher nearby in case of an emergency.
Coolers or Outdoor Fridges and Beverage Dispensers
There has to be something to keep the drinks and other refreshments cold. You always want to make sure that you have enough coolers and/or a big enough outdoor refrigerator to accommodate the size of your party. Remember that when you are stocking up, you may also want to leave room for guests that will be bringing their own refreshments. You can also keep snacks that need to stay cold in them as well.
Utensils and Serving Accessories
No matter what kind of party it is, there will always be a need to serve drinks and usually food. You will need plenty of cups for sure. After that, paper plates, forks, spoons and knives, as well as napkins are all a good idea as well. Something to serve appetizers or hors d oeuvres is also something else that you may want to look into.
