How to Make Your Own Birthday Party Invitations

Good morning Loves.  Let me ask you a question, how did you get invited to your last party?  My 35th birthday is coming up and I’m thinking for the first time in many years that I would like to celebrate with a party.  My problem is that I don’t know how to invite people.

To be honest I haven’t been invited to a party in several years that hasn’t been initiated by an email or Facebook invitation.  Prior to that I had to R.S.V.P. to parties via evite.  I can’t actually remember the last time I received a physical invitation to a party.  But this year I’m changing the rules.

I am going to make my own birthday party invitations, pay for postage and mail them out to my friends.  Now I just need to figure out how to do it.  I of course had no idea where to being so I did what every online girl would do, I turned to Pinterest.  If you search invitations on Pinterest you’ll mostly find ways to create lovely wedding invitations, but what about making your own birthday invites?

Order from a print shop

This actually popped into my head while I was ordering my new business cards.  Companies like Vista Print let you design your own invitations which gives your birthday party an individual touch; it also lets you create a themed invitation that goes along with the party.

I would love to get a birthday party invitation in the mail that completely represents the hostess.  It’s just a nice personal touch.

Cut and paste

If you have the time and you’re guest list isn’t too big you can make your own invitations…literally.  I’m talking about heading over to a craft store, getting all the materials you need such as paper, lace and sparkles and going home to DIY your own birthday party  invitations.  Don’t forget the hot glue gun.  If you can DIY a bathroom, you can do it for your birthday invitations.

This is probably the cheapest option, but it’s also the most time consuming so before turning your kitchen table into your own craft shop think about the time commitment.  I actually once received a Save the Date invitation that was a magnet.  It was very cool and I never forgot the date because it was always right there smack dab in the middle of my refrigerator door.

Send out a delivery

I actually saw this in a movie once and thought it was pretty cool – if you have the cash to spend on birthday party invitations delivered right to the door.

If you’re birthday party is going to be exclusive with only a few close family and friends why not send out a delivery such as bouquet of flowers or a yummy edible arrangements.  Instead of the card saying Happy Birthday or Congratulations it can say Please Come to My Party.  How awesome would that be?
