Cool new giveaway site

While I (like anyone else) love freebies, I’m not very big on giveaway sites in general.

I used to belong to a ton of them, but I’ve found that a lot of the “free stuff” lists I’ve signed up for don’t wind being worth the effort. You get a free one-use trial sized packet of shampoo…or a coupon for a tiny bottle of hand lotion (if you “like” the brand’s Facebook page and don’t mind their random updates cluttering up your wall)…or a travel brochure to some random state you’d never vacation to (no offense to any Wisconsiners reading, but I don’t see us planning a destination vacay to Wisonsin anytime soon.)

Which is why when I found out that one of the bloggers I follow was getting involved in a giveaway site, I was kind of wary to check it out. But, given the blogger involved, I probably should have known from the beginning that it wasn’t going to be your ordinary freebie site.

Take Our Stuff: Giveaways That Don’t Suck

The blogger in question is Nate St. Pierre, who I first found about because he ran a fantastic charity site with J. Money of Budgets Are Sexy called Love Drop. Love Drop chose 12 deserving families over the course of 12 months and, with donations of every size from its subscribers, gave these families amazing gifts like vacations, baby supplies, and even a new car. Nate also created Love Bomb, which surprises bloggers going through tough times by “bombing” one of their posts with hundreds of supportive comments, and ItStartsWith.Us, which sends subscribers an email every week with a simple, 15-minute challenge that can totally change someone’s life.

Love Drop is, sadly, no longer in operation, but definitely check out Love Bomb and ItStartsWith.Us. They’re super-easy, super-heartwarming ways to make a huge difference in someone’s life every week.

At any rate, knowing that Nate was behind amazing projects like that should have been a clue that his latest project, a giveaway site called Take Our Stuff, would be equally cool.

When you sign up for Take Our Stuff’s email list, you literally never know what’s going to hit your inbox each week. Maybe it’ll be an antique 1940’s microphone. Maybe it’ll be an old-school Nintendo bundle (The Hubby was drooling over this one, but unfortunately, we did not win). Maybe, like this week, it’ll be a box of “guilty pleasures” like Twilight and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream “For the Ladies” and a Maxim subscription and DC Comics book “For the Guys.”

Half the fun of following Take Our Stuff is waiting to find out what the heck they’re going to give away this week. There’s a little something for everyone, and the voice of the site is really funny.  (i.e. on the FAQ page, the question “Why isn’t the site fancy?” is answered with “Why isn’t your mom fancy?”)

So yeah. Just a little holiday gift from me to you, because I love letting you guys know when I come across cool stuff you can share in. Good luck, everyone!

If you sign up for Take Our Stuff and win, could you post in the comments? I think it would be awesome if a B&B reader won something and I’d love to know!

Em

  1. Thanks for the compliments, Miss! I hope you continue to enjoy the site, and let me know if there’s anything I can do to improve it.

And, speaking of finding out what the heck I’m giving away next week, I need to get to work and figure it out…

  2. From what I can tell Love Bomb is no longer operating either. I’ve tried emailing and asking what’s going on with it and if they need some help running it but I’ve never received a response.

    • Hey Kayla, I’m actually working on that as we speak. It’s a bit complicated, but I should have it back up and running for January. Thanks for checking in…

  3. Thanks for the love!

  4. P.S., “Wisconsiners?”

    Sigh.

Sorry, it was the first state that popped into my head. Nothing personal. Does Wisconsin have any great travel destinations I should be aware of? We love all states here at B&B. :)
