Busy…In A Good Way

a life in balance

Since I’ve returned from our honeymoon, I’ve been picking up a couple side projects.  I knew these projects were coming months before the wedding, so I’ve been prepared.

Many of these projects are social media-related which makes me SO happy.  Because, guess what?  When I’m working on blogging, social media, and the like, it usually doesn’t feel like work.  I love it!  It is super exciting and I can’t wait to find out where this new direction in my life takes me.

Here’s what I’ve been working on:

  • Blonde & Balanced.  This is kinda obvious, but I’ve been striving to put more effort into Blonde & Balanced.  B&B is my baby and it usually always comes first (unless I have a deadline looming).  I’ve been thinking about B&B a lot and I hope you are enjoying the direction it is taking!
  • Social Media Side Project.  I’ll never be able to divulge much about this, but I am the social media coordinator for a local group effort.  It is super exciting and takes up a lot of time, but it’s so fun to be the lead on something like this.  I’m learning a lot.
  • Freelancing.  I’ve been rekindling my freelancing habits.  You’ll start to see me pop up on the blogs I used to write for regularly.
  • B&B Social Media:  When I have time, I’ve been attempting to amp up the social media for B&B – specifically Facebook.  If you haven’t already, Like Blonde & Balanced on Facebook here!
  • Personal Blog.  I’ve been posting more on my personal blog, too.  Still not as much as on B&B, but it’s a work in progress.  I’m finding my flow there.
  • Operation Buy Our First House:  Of course, there is that whole thing where we’re buying our first house.  No big deal.
  • Normal Life.  Oh yeah, and then there’s work, workin’ on my fitness, friends, family, church, and all the things that make up a good life.
  • Marriage.  Oh, and I’m also a newlywed!

Seems like a lot of stuff, but the crazy thing is that I’m happier than I think I ever have been since I returned from my honeymoon.  I am thriving on all these projects, my new marriage, and life in general.  My side projects make me so happy!

Now, if only I could figure out a way for my side projects to make me enough money to live on?  Hmmmm … that sounds like my next project. :)

I love all these awesome things you’re up to. In the spirit of sharing my 2011 has been awesomely busy and cool too:

-cofounded a choir and already have put on one concert. #2 is next week.
    -started an awesome new job
-traveled to 3 countries already with further plans too and met the most amazing online friends in real life.
-keeping up with growing my site/revenue/connections/awesomeness :)
-being filmed for British national television next week!

Life is good, and I loved reading about all the amazing stuff in your life too.

Wow Amber you are busy, it must be hard to balance all these things together, that’s why you are B&B ;) . I always try to focus on one thing at a time, that keeps me balanced. If I do too many things I get frustrated and burned out.

    • Amber says:

I agree — focusing on one thing at a time is the best approach, but I always have trouble with that. :)

Blah, what haven’t I been doing? I’m working full-time, in school part-time (but taking 3 classes online over the summer, while working, so that kinda feels like full-time). I’m writing 2 blogs, keeping up with 3 Twitter accounts, and have just been told I need to start a blog/FB/Twitter for work. Plus, I’m trying to lose weight, and am on Week 3 of the Couch-to-5K running program.

Wow, thanks for letting me get all that out! :P

It’s good to be busy… and it seems like you’re staying balanced :)

The site looks really good and congrats on the wedding! I am sure the honeymoon was great too! I sound your site pretty recently and I really like it. I am excited to see how this projects unfold. I am about to quit my job, student teach, and then travel the world. I am a little nervous to give up the current job I am in but I am happy to share my adventures with my fellow bloggers. I also just got my yoga certification so I am on the hunt for yoga teaching positions. Glad I found you!

Hi Meg! Thanks for stopping by! I’ve actually already subscribed to your blog too after you left that last comment! I am really liking it. :)

Congratulations on finding a way to be busy in a good way; it’s not always easy……..it’s taken me a couple of years to get to that point. At first I had to scale back to doing virtually nothing and then start building the ‘busy’ back up on my own terms. Now busy is fun!
