In case you haven’t heard, the United States Federal Government may or may not shut down by the time this is posted.
The shutdown will affect millions; and not just the 800,000 workers, but those federal contractors that will also be furloughed, families of federal employees, and any other person that relies on the government … which basically mean everyone!
Everyone has their own opinions on the situation and they’re entitled to those opinions. I’m not sure what to think of the shutdown – sometimes I’m mad, other times I’m indifferent, other times I laugh. It’s really a crazy situation that I just don’t even know how to process. I’ve been watching national news stations and refreshing their Websites constantly – it’s exhausting!
The next few days, weeks, and months, should prove to be very interesting …
But on to better news: only 3 link this week, but they’re good ones!

The Old Green Chair
“Looking back on it, we didn’t get rid of that old green chair because we wanted to. We both loved that old thing. We both ceremoniously sat in that chair for a while on our last day in that old apartment before leaving it at the curb. Between the two of us, we didn’t really mind the appearance of that chair, and neither did our friends. Instead, we got rid of it out of a sense of what we were supposed to do.” – by Trent at The Simple Dollar
(Amber’s Note: G and I have 2 chairs like this. They’re big, comfortable, cushy, tan rocking chairs. My mom rocked my siblings and I in these chairs, they make the most perfect squeaking noise when you rock in them, and I absolutely ADORE them. G wants to trash them when we move, but I don’t think I can part with them … and after reading that, I know I won’t.)
The Healthy Tipping Point Book
“The Healthy Tipping Point Book will include fitness tips, cooking tricks, and success stories from people just like YOU, as well as from professionals! I’m not just looking for advice from people who’ve reached their goals, but also from people who are just starting off or fell off the wagon a few times. Health is not linear. If you have a story to tell or a tip to share, please submit your wisdom here.” – by Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point
(Amber’s Note: Caitlin is writing her next book! Please share your inspirational health stories with her!)
Thoughts on Work/Life Balance
“I think the key to achieving life/work sanity is making an effort to de-stress when you are really busy. Over the last few months, I’ve made a real effort to streamline my professional/personal hats so I have more time to enjoy my life and/or sleep.” – by Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point

Liked the old green char article, good links Amber! And as for work/life balance, what’s that! I feel like I work 24/7 now that I blog after I get off from work at 5… sad days indeed.
Hey Amber,
I am currently preparing to take the CPA exam
and I was wondering if you still have your old study materials and if they are available for sale?
Thanks!
Best Regards
